Gotomiptc is now a $2 billion startup.
Microsoft has announced that it has acquired its hosting service Gotomapc, a $7.9 billion company based in Germany that is one of the most well-known online hosting companies.
The acquisition gives Microsoft a leading presence in the burgeoning Internet hosting space.
The company was founded in 2004 and has been one of Microsoft’s most successful acquisitions.
It has a massive network of more than 2,000 sites around the world, including more than 500,000 hosted by its cloud service, Azure.
It has also launched an international cloud service called Azure Hosting.
Microsoft acquired Gotomyp C.V. in April 2016 for $1.9bn.
The $1bn acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The move follows a similar acquisition in April by Japanese conglomerate SoftBank, which bought the domain name domain.com in December 2016 for about $2bn.
